turly 14 Sep 2013, 23:30 | FinderPop 2.5.1 FinderPop 2.5.1 (tagged "Ralph the Wonder Llama") is now available.
Edit 20131023: removed 'Beta' designation as seems to work fine on Mavericks... enjoy!
- Improved Mavericks (OS X 10.9) compatibility.
- Added a Copy Path To Clipboard Applescript to the FinderPopExtras folder.
The previously released version of FinderPop is available here (2.5).
If you're installing this over a previous version of FinderPop, you'll have to restart or logout/login for it to take effect.
As usual, if there are any issues with this, reply here in the forum! |
vlad 08 Oct 2013, 09:35 | Re: FinderPop 2.5.1 BETA Hello, Turly!
Hope you're fine and the weather is sunny wherever you are.
SL on 2,2 GHz IC i7 MBP – and staying with it for a while yet…
Thank you for “Copy path to clipboard”! Often useful when getting rid of hidden rubbish etc.!
Re: URL Cowicide: I “guess” I see a connection here: with many Startup items and many things on the Desktop, FP seems to take a while becoming active and occasionally it seems not to or takes 3-4 minutes.
Thank you and best,

Larsen2k4 13 Oct 2013, 10:41 | Re: FinderPop 2.5.1 BETA Hey Turly,
there's one conflict I wanted to report since a long time, but I always forgot Anyway, here goes:
I'm using the Finder addition "XtraFinder" (tabs etc) - They always conflict during the startup process. If XtraFinder hooks into the finder first/at the same time where FP attempts it, FP gets blocked (not hooked into contextual menus). It's always easy to work around by restarting the Finder + XtraFinder, but it would be great if you'd find a way to resolve this conflict.
Thanks a lot. Keep on rockin'. |

It does for me, and I will enjoy. Thanks once again, Turly.

rene204 02 Nov 2013, 07:48 | Re: FinderPop 2.5.1 working here on Mavericks without any Problems... did you try to delete FP and reinstall with latest version 13A603 of mavericks and FP 2.5.1 ? Did you install for "all Users"..? because of Sandboxing..? |

Yes, it's an error which I'll fix in a few minutes! I accidentally ran my release-new-fp script while I was debugging it. BTW, Rene, I am unable to reproduce your 'denying dispatch of aevt/ansr event' console messages from Calendar.app in Console on 10.9. In fact FinderPop works just fine in both Calendar and Mail.app with no spurious Console messages as far as I can see...

You have presumably installed for FP for 'All Users' ... is anyone else having this problem? Please chime in! |
rene204 17 Nov 2013, 17:44 | Re: FinderPop 2.5.1 Yes, had installed for all users, because i knew of the Problems without installing for all users...
deinstalled it now, and reinstalled it again, and the errors are gone away....
Hm, glad to got it solved... good to see, you are working on FP... will we see a next Version soon..? |
turly 17 Nov 2013, 17:56 | Re: FinderPop 2.5.1 There won't be a release today anyway, I've spent the afternoon trying to reproduce bugs that people have come across in 10.9, and as far as I can see FP is blameless in most of these. I still need to look at what happens when someone has 37 startup items including FinderPop, though ..! |

turly 18 Nov 2013, 09:21 | Re: FinderPop 2.5.1 So clicking in an unused bit of the menubar in TextEdit no longer works? |
rene204 19 Nov 2013, 04:23 | Re: FinderPop 2.5.1 Clicking in unused menubar is working fine... (Textedit, Preview and Mail....) |
turly 19 Nov 2013, 21:36 | Re: FinderPop 2.5.1 That's ... "interesting". BTW, It's not me printing that error message, it's sandboxd.
Sandboxed apps cannot send an AppleEvent to FinderPop asking FP to pop up a menu in an unused bit of menubar.
Instead, if FinderPop sees that the frontmost app is SandBoxed (and has also been patched by FP), FP will send the sandboxed app an AppleEvent asking 'Anything you'd like me to do?' every half-second or so. The sandboxed app is able to reply to that AppleEvent, sending back an "ansr" ("answer") AppleEvent where it can tell FP to pop up a menu, etc. (The vast majority of replies from the sandboxed app will be "nothing to do".)
However for some reason on your system, sandboxd appears to be inhibiting the dispatch of some of these replies, but not all of them, because otherwise clicking in unused menubar wouldn't work.
Maybe making the sandboxed app not send a reply when there's nothing to do will help in this situation. As I say, it doesn't happen here, but I'll experiment anyway... |
