dmfresco 13 Mar 2015, 13:49 | Moving an item results in a copy Over the past few days, I have noticed that when I have tried to "move" a file from one folder to the other, the result is a copy instead of a move. I am not sure what changes if any I have made. I am using Late 2013 MacPro with 12 GB RAM running Yosemite 10.10.2. I have not tried to reproduce this issue on my Macbook Air yet, which is also running up to date Yosemite. Will report back once I have tried that. |
turly 13 Mar 2015, 15:09 | Re: Moving an item results in a copy Are the source and destination of the move on different volumes (disks)? If so, the Finder does a copy instead of a move when I ask it to move the selection. See previous discussions here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=302 and viewtopic.php?f=2&t=323. I added a "Move To..." script (inside the FinderPop Extras folder) which pops up a dialog asking where you want to move the selection to, and then explicitly moves the selection using the low-level Unix 'mv' command. Edit: 'Move To...' and 'Copy To...' scripts were introduced in version 2.5.6, announced here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=321 |
