Eric 25 Nov 2016, 21:58 | Re: FP is working under macOS Sierra 10.12 with SIP
very strange - I had disabled SIP but when checked, told it was enabled, so reboot and re-disabled SIP restart and without moving file to Sys/Lib/SA, FP is working (I assume just for me and not all users based on it being in my Lib/SA folder) so all is good with the universe.. I have Sierra (still identifying things I don't like such as horizontal file lists in icon view) but FP is WORKING!!! thanks all for your help and patience with me and thanks again to Turley for his efforts at maintaining this incredibly useful utility! - let me know when you're in Australia and I will buy you a few beers! all best to all E |
Eric 24 Nov 2016, 22:01 | Re: FP is working under macOS Sierra 10.12 with SIP
Hi thanks - SIP is disabled - I also use cDock and other 3rd party apps that require disabling SIP but unable to move the FinderPopOsax.osax file to /System/Library/ScriptingAdditions - just not an option. Have repaired permissions etc and no go. how do I see if SIP enabled/disabled in Terminal? thanks E |

Eric 29 Feb 2016, 20:21 | Re: Contents menu not working (FP 257 on Yosemite 10.5)
Bingo - the Folder Actions Setup option had a 'minus' sign in the checkbox. Clicked until ticked and now FP working as per expectations many thanks Turly, you are a star! |
Eric 26 Feb 2016, 20:59 | Re: Contents menu not working (FP 257 on Yosemite 10.5)
Hey Turley thanks for reply behaviour of FP v strange - have set cmd-cntrl click to on, but it is not functioning as expected essentially if I cmd-cntrl click on a drive on my desktop, FP lists the files/folder on the desktop, rather than the drive contents if I cmd-cntrl click on a folder, either on desktop or in my files, FP lists the files/folders in the parent directory of the folder I have cmd-cntrl clicked on if I cmd-cntrl click on the desktop away from any drive/file/folder, I get the normal/extected FP menu I can send you some screen grabs to show what happens if what I have typed here doesn't make sense running FP2.5.7 on MB Air 8GB RAM, 128GB, OS X 10.10.5 cheers E |

Eric 12 Oct 2015, 03:16 | Re: SIP disabled but FP not working

Eric 11 Oct 2015, 23:00 | SIP disabled but FP not working
I have disabled SIP on El CRAPITAN as I use developer-grade software (primarily cold fusion for html access to sql database) and El CRAP diables Java and denies me installing Virtual Machines to CF relies on El CRAP also diables all my favourite GUI tweaks - FP, Flavours, cDock, Bartender etc etc - all how I want MY mac to run/look so have disabled SIP but FP 257 doesn't work - error message that hangs System Preferences "this version is not compatible with MacOS 10.11 - this Mac has 10.11.0" should I reinstall FP 256 or install for all users or other alternative? FP is a critical utility so I really would like to get it back any advice/suggestions welcomed thanks all E |
Eric 01 Aug 2013, 22:51 | Re: FP 2.5 fails to load at startup
I have a bunch of apps that are loaded at startup, and finderpop-daemon is last on list. Unsure if it's wort posting a list of these items, or I can list them if useful. |
Eric 31 Jul 2013, 22:11 | FP 2.5 fails to load at startup
Very strange behaviour - FP 2.5 does not load at startup (Mini 10.8.4, 8G RAM). I have to manually open Sys Prefs and disable then enable FP to have it running never seen this before have deleted and re-installed, same behaviour perhaps another startup item interfering in FP startup? any thoughts welcomed thanks E |
Eric 31 Jul 2013, 07:13 | Select font for FP menu items
Hey Turly was wondering if it would be possible to allow users to choose the font of the FP menu without too much grief? We can choose the font size, but selecting the actual font would be useful (in my humble opinion) just throwing it into the ring for your response, and others' thoughts all best to all E |
Eric 10 Apr 2010, 23:32 | Re: menu bar in excel

Eric 01 Apr 2010, 22:59 | Seriously weird stuff 10.6.3
Am having seriously weird experiences trying to get any beta of FP working on my MacBook 13" unibody [4GB RAM] running 10.6.3 Before installing 10.6.3, I cleared all the caches, fixed permissions etc before upgrade, then installed 10.6.3 Upon trying to re-install FP (224b8 to 226 betas), I get the following error message: "FinderPop was unable to set the permissions (error -3).It looks like System Preferences was already running while you tried to install FinderPop. Please quit System Preferences and try installing again." Well, SP was NOT running (as per Turley's instructions in the ReadMe) so I am now looking for help from others. Has anyone else seen anything like this? Any assistance welcomed and thanks in advance. |
Eric 31 Mar 2010, 22:48 | Re: FP working on SL 10.6.3?
Hey Turley thanks for yours. Yes, managed to get working on 10.6.3 but it took a while - repeated installs and restarting the Finder. I think I have narrowed down the cause - does FP store anything in a cache file somewhere? I used MainMenu 2 to clear system and user caches before the install and I think that was the reason for the problems, because after i managed to get FP running on 10.6.3, I cleared cahce files and the problem returned. Hence my query - if FP stores info in a cache file, then clearing the cache file may cause FP to not load/work? all best, Eric |
Eric 30 Mar 2010, 20:58 | FP working on SL 10.6.3?
Anyone else having problems with FP on 10.6.3? Not loading at startup and if I reinstall FP it still doesn't run. Have deleted prefs and reinstalled/restarted Finder etc but no joy. Anyone else with this experience? Any suggestions? cheers |
Eric 23 Mar 2010, 07:20 | FP 2.2.6 beta
Hi Turly am running most recent beta and am unable to get the Finder Labels' colours to show in the FP menus. The box is checked but it doesn't seem to be working. Running FP on Mini 2Gb RAM and Macbook 13" unibody 4Gb Ram, both 10.6.2. Happy to help in solving this cheers E |
