osplo 29 Dec 2017, 22:56 | Re: High Sierra, anyone?
Happy to report that FinderPop is working on my main iMac under High Sierra, too. Only one strange thing, after installing FP there was NO FinderPopOsax.osax file whatsoever anywhere. I used BetterZip to uncompress the installation file and I don't know whether this Betterzip version failed to decompress it. I decompressed it right to the proper system folder manually, though, and everything seems to be working properly. Strange, I have always used BetterZip and never had a problem. I don't know how to use the system unzip program beyond the right click Finder option, and that option is nowhere to be found under High Sierra (maybe the Betterzip setup procedure eliminates it?). Anyway, happy camper here. Regards from Barcelona and again, thanks so much Turly! Happy new year to you all. |
osplo 25 Dec 2017, 23:53 | Re: High Sierra, anyone?
Do you mean this? 1) Install the latest FinderPop version. 1b) execute (using the Terminal app): defaults write com.finderpop.finderpop ignoreSysVersionCheck -bool true 2) Disable SIP (reboot in discovery mode pressing cmd-r while restarting, in Terminal type command "csrutil disable", restart normal) 3) Open /Library/ScriptingAdditions folder 4) Move the FinderPopOsax.osax file in there to the /System/Library/ScriptingAdditions directory (creating the ScriptingAdditions directory first if it doesn't exist). Don't leave the file where it was, move it, don't just copy it. You will probably be prompted for an adminstrator password. 5) Open Terminal, and type command: sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/ScriptingAdditions/FinderPopOsax.osax 6) You'll need to enter your admin password when prompted in the Terminal window 7) Enable SIP (reboot in discovery mode again, in Terminal type command "csrutil enable", restart normal) This is what I did. And it worked! |

FinderPop working well on High Sierra in my MacBook Air. Happy camper here. |

Great news, thanks so much. |
osplo 14 Dec 2017, 21:38 | Re: High Sierra, anyone?
Do you mean this? defaults write com.finderpop.finderpop ignoreSysVersionCheck -bool true So everything works? I am mostly interested in the ability to invoke the Fav list by just rightclicking wherever in the desktop. Thanks! |
osplo 09 Dec 2017, 11:18 | High Sierra, anyone?
Anyone has installed FP on High Sierra? I do not want to lose my good old friend... |
osplo 31 Oct 2017, 16:59 | Re: FinderPop 2.5.9-BETA
So in other words, FinderPop works well in HighSierra if we do the usual SIP treatment as in Sierra and then execute this command: defaults write com.finderpop.finderpop ignoreSysVersionCheck -bool true (I assume it is a Terminal command executed using admin privileges?) If someone can confirm, I can start seriously looking into installing HighSierra in my machines. The new file system scares me a lot, though... Thanks! |
osplo 31 Oct 2017, 16:51 | Re: FP is working under macOS Sierra 10.12 with SIP
I have the same issue (right click menu not working properly in icon mode) but I consider the price to pay for FinderPop... let be it. Unless Turly has a fix or it is fixed on High Sierra! |
osplo 02 Aug 2017, 15:18 | Re: FP is working under macOS Sierra 10.12 with SIP
10.12.6 just installed - FinderPop working great. SIP is enabled. Chapeau, Turly! |
osplo 04 Jun 2017, 17:32 | Re: FP is working under macOS Sierra 10.12 with SIP
10.12.5 just intalled - FinderPop kicking like a champ. |
osplo 08 Jan 2017, 16:14 | Re: FP is working under macOS Sierra 10.12 with SIP
macOS 10.12.2 installed on top of the previous Sierra version and everything works fine. No need to do anything, FinderPop just works Happy camper here. |
osplo 02 Nov 2016, 00:05 | Re: FinderPop 2.5.9-BETA
Working perfectly well in two Macs running Sierra, this iMac for instance, on 10.12.1. (I have to do the osax trick in both, though). Thanks Turly, thank you guys! |
osplo 26 Sep 2016, 13:24 | Re: FinderPop 2.5.9-BETA
That's great. I'll upgrade soon. |
osplo 20 Sep 2016, 10:26 | Re: FP is working under Mac OS X Sierra GM with SIP
Excellent news! Any one tried it with the final public release? Cheers... |
osplo 23 Jul 2016, 15:59 | Re: Yes, FP works in El Capitan with SIP!
I couldn't resist and did the deed. Happy to report that FinderPop works as well as before under 10.11.6. No need to redo the SIP circumvention or anything. Cheers, |

These are fantastic news, blueberry. Thanks for sharing. |
osplo 23 Jul 2016, 14:40 | Re: Yes, FP works in El Capitan with SIP!
Anyone installed El Capitan 10.11.6? FP still working after the update? Thanks |
osplo 18 Jun 2016, 15:59 | Re: Yes, FP works in El Capitan with SIP!
I finally upgraded three Macs and I am happy to report that this works. Only one (MacMini) is not working but I did not follow the instructions by heart. I will retry later, but in my iMac and my MacBook Air FinderPop works perfectly well with El Capitan 10.11.5. I repost the instructions since there (still) was a typo on the name of the file to move, now it is correct in every appearance: FindePop en El Capitan 1) Install FinderPop 2.5.7. 2) Disable SIP (reboot in discovery mode pressing cmd-r while restarting, in Terminal type command "csrutil disable", restart normal) (Terminal is under the Utilities menu in the menu bar above) 3) Open /Library/ScriptingAdditions folder 4) Move the FinderPopOsax.osax file in there to the /System/Library/ScriptingAdditions directory (creating the ScriptingAdditions directory first if it doesn't exist). Don't leave the file where it was, move it, don't just copy it. You will probably be prompted for an adminstrator password. 5) Open Terminal, and type command: sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/ScriptingAdditions/FinderPopOsax.osax 6) You'll need to enter your admin password when prompted in the Terminal window 7) Enable SIP (reboot in discovery mode again, in Terminal type command "csrutil enable", restart normal) Thank you Turly, Salamac et al! |
osplo 27 Jul 2012, 13:32 | Re: FinderPop 2.4.4 beta
Great news, Turly et al I will upgrade to 2.4.4 today before I buy ML then. Thank you guys! |
osplo 26 Jul 2012, 09:26 | Re: FinderPop 2.4.4 beta
Dear Turly, look forward for commentary on Mountain Lion. I am NOT upgrading until FinderPop works! All the best... |
osplo 09 Oct 2011, 17:59 | Re: FinderPop 2.3.9.3 BETA
great thanks! |
osplo 09 Oct 2011, 10:08 | Re: FinderPop 2.3.9.3 BETA
Turly, did you have any time to look at this? I offer my help for testing or whatever. Beers are waiting |
osplo 30 Sep 2011, 01:50 | Re: FinderPop 2.3.9.3 BETA
Exactly. What I can (almost, but 99% sure) assure is that this DID NOT happen before, either because I was on Snow Leopard or either because I was using a previous FP version. The other items appeared even if the disk was disconnected. Abraçada! |
osplo 28 Sep 2011, 23:43 | Re: FinderPop 2.3.9.3 BETA
Turly, Russell, I figured out the problem. As I mentioned I have an Airport Extreme disk and one of the folders on my FinderPop items is a folder residing in that disk. If the disk has not been connected, FinderPop works as described earlier (showing just a link to the FinderPop Items folder). If the disk has been connected at least once, FinderPop works as expected. I never noticed this behavior before installing Lion so I hope this could be fixable... Turly? Thanks! |
osplo 14 Sep 2011, 09:15 | Re: FinderPop 2.3.9.3 BETA
Turly, it is amazing, you are always much more responsive than professional support from big name companies! The problem was that all the contextual menu showed (when rightclicking on the desktop or empty menu bar) was "Finder Pop Items" and it wasn't even navigable, id est, no items hanging off it either. Very strange. The rest of the context menu on the desktop was OK (New Folder, Get Info, etc.) and the aliases on the FinderPop items were all valid (they still are, nothing have changed), with the sole exception of an alias pointing to a disconnected AirPort Extreme disk. The FinderPop folder is on my Library/FinderPop Items. All of a sudden, without a reboot in the middle, it started to work again. I am blaming Lion for it is doing VERY strange things to me: icons from the menu bar disappear for no reason (Dropbox, Alfred, etc are not shown even after reinstalling latest versions, other icons such as iStat Menu icons appear perfectly well). It is driving me crazy. I also have problems trying to make Lion recognize a VGA TV as monitor, it prefers HDMI (the posh bastard) for the same TV (but randomly, it works!). I don't know. I suppose it has nothing to do with FinderPop. False alarm, I guess. Let's the party begin! All the best, and kudos, Turly, again! |
osplo 13 Sep 2011, 22:18 | Re: FinderPop 2.3.9.3 BETA
Welcome back Turly! I hope I will not spoil the party here, but I got a new Mini with Lion yesterday and I have a funny behavior with this beta. I have several items in FinderPop Items folder but instead of showing me the actual items, I got a sole link to the FinderPop items folder. Strange as these same items worked pretty well in my previous Mini (and got transferred through Time Machine). I uninstalled and installed the Beta... any clues? Thank you Sir! |
